Rustic Chic Barn Wedding at Granite Ridge

Jess and John’s wedding in May of last year was the perfect way for Pinch Me Planning to start off our wedding season. Since we started this wedding planning business a few years ago, I’ve had the pleasure (and honor!) to work with couples of many different cultural backgrounds. Designing, planning, or simply experiencing a wedding infused with cultural history and traditions is such a wonderful part of this business. And while some cultures are relatively new to me, there’s nothing like a big Italian wedding in Maine to make me feel right at home.

Jess and John’s wedding at Granite Ridge Estate & Barn in Norway, Maine was nothing short of that.

Granite Ridge Estate & Barn in Norway is the quintessential barn wedding venue in Maine. The estate lodge has sweeping, panoramic mountain views from every room. It’s built at the top of a 1,000 foot high mountain, and is surrounded by 200 private acres. Couples who choose Granite Ridge as their wedding venue in Maine can hold their ceremony in an onsite wooded wedding area, inside the barn, or offsite at a classic New England white church.

The barn itself is ideal for creating a rustic chic barn wedding in Maine. The hand crafted timberframe constructed barn feels lofty with 28 foot cathedral ceilings, an entire wall of windows, and panoramic mountain views.

Jess and John took advantage of everything this classic barn wedding venue in Maine has to offer.

Their early summer wedding day began outside in the private wooded wedding site. Beautiful floral arrangements from Yellow Twist lined the outdoor aisle, and more sat atop a white birch arch that served as the couple’s backdrop for their outdoor wedding ceremony.

The wedding then moved indoors to the Granite Ridge barn. Remember how I said this was a big Italian wedding? I’m telling you, you could feel the love as soon as you walked into the reception.

The reception incorporated a few of my favorite design elements. I love adding a colorful water glass to a wedding tablescape. It adds an unexpected pop without overtaking the other details. These blush colored goblets were from A Family Affair.

Metal structures elevated the floral arrangements on round tables to more easily allow guests to converse with one another, while also bringing additional height to the room.  A *trade secret*: these were the same arrangements that lined the aisle at the ceremony - Yellow Twist is a creative genius!

The reception ended with an epic dessert table courtesy of the Winey Baker. This Boston-based crew concluded the night by heading back to the Granite Ridge house to watch the Celtics playoff game.  I’d expect nothing less from such a passionate crew!

Q&A with Real Maine Bride Jess

1. How did you and your husband meet?

We met when I moved to Boston in 2012 and we ended up on the same recreational softball league through mutual friends.

2. What is your favorite memory of your wedding day?

My favorite memory was our ceremony, it was really special for us to have one our mutual best friends marry us.  I also loved seeing everyone's reaction to the beautiful view at Granite Ridge when cocktail hour started.

3. What is your favorite part of having a wedding planner?
My favorite part about having a wedding planner was Christina's ability to bring my Pinterest boards to life in one beautiful room. I had a vision in mind, but needed help putting it all together. I loved the vision boards she made for me. They helped me pick things like color schemes and flowers in a way that was easy to visualize. I will never forget the moment I walked into the barn before guests arrived and saw how beautiful the room looked. Christina worked tirelessly to set everything up, and it could not have been more perfect.
