A September Island Wedding at TEIA
Talk about picturesque! This island wedding took place on a perfect day in early September at the historical wedding venue, TEIA, where the ocean views are unrivaled. Located just three miles off the coast of Portland, Maine, TEIA was founded in 1912 for the community to gather and revel in the great activities summer has to offer. Today, TEIA remains a unique tennis, sailing and social club, and of course, a perfect coastal wedding venue.
In order to reach Peaks Island, the guests took a ferry ride through gorgeous Casco Bay to Kristina and Neil’s wedding. The views at TEIA are so epic that the hardest part of this couple’s big day was tearing their guests away from the ocean views to go inside to eat dinner!
Hosting an island wedding
We loved keeping the design for this wedding neutral, but adding a light touch of lavender was necessary to brighten up the space. Speaking of the florals, Flour! absolutely nailed the floral design and personals for Kristina and Neil’s wedding. We love the smoky lavender roses in her bouquet—this subtle touch was carried throughout in small details, like the bridesmaids dresses, table runners, and even the ribbons on the ceremony cards! One of our other favorite decor details was the guest book; with guests having to take a ferry through Casco Bay to get to the venue, it only seemed appropriate to have the guest book be a map of the area. The couple then used this as a decor piece in their new home as Mr. and Mrs. Cutter.
